Re: Dumping Exploding Damage

That's why I say it "falls apart" at higher toughness. You are right that it "falls apart" at high Toughness. But the example you described isn't exactly accurate. 1- In the house-rules we used in my group (which I don't force to anyone here or claim that they are better than th...

Re: Devil's Tower (spoilers for Last Sons and DT trilogy))

Instead of having the main entrance guarded by Iron Dragon guards, have it guarded by a X-Squad.
Instead of having it populated by aliens, have it populated by Hellstromme staff.
And the big portal at the end would still be there, but surrounded by scared scientists and angry automatons!

Re: Sedentary players

Make the troubles come to them! - A "prophet" may come in town and start a new cult. - A dangerous gang may escape US law enforcement and settle in this new and unknown town. - A group of locals may try to form a trade union and shift away from the "communist" mentality. - The lo...

Wild Card NPCs in Mass Battles

The rulebook makes it clear that PCs may actively participate in Mass Battles. Do significant enemy Wild Cards also participate in the Mass Battles using these rules? I'm wondering because some Wild Cards are listed in the Mass Battle forces on a particular scene of The Last Sons . Do they participa...

Re: Dumping Exploding Damage

I was thinking of using the the toughness increment, but was debating because of armor, but I really like the idea of taking the armor number off any damage first, like the old damage reduction. Doing that way I could have big number balistic armors and shields. Exactly what I do when dealing with ...

Re: Dumping Exploding Damage

My 2 cents. People will probably don't like these house-rules, but my group and I love them: - All dice may only explode once. So that means a d4 can never exceed 8, a d12 can never exceed 24, etc. This applies to Trait rolls as well as damage rolls. No more d4 exploding all the way up 23. If you wa...

Re: Plot Point campaign order

I have a crazy project to create a kind of deadlands mega-campaign starting with the adventures of classic Deadlands in 1876 and finishing with the final battle against the Reckoners You can do that, but keep in mind that each Plot Point Campaigns are pretty darn long to run (which is not a bad thi...

Re: Plot Point campaign order

Yeah, but at the same time, if the players do not read the books and only play the game, it really doesn't matter at all. As said before, each Plot Point takes place in completely different locations, dealing with different NPCs and events. The PPC books will sure contain spoilers about what happene...

Re: The Flood advice

My group went to Shannonsburg and convinced the Confederate Admirals there that the Abysmal was a real treat to the CSA influence in California. A few hours later, the Abysmal was sunk and plundered by CSA ironclads. The posse achieved its goal, but the local Fear Level increased by 1 due to Kang's ...

Re: Play "Realms of Cthulhu" with CoC sanity rules ?

Salut Fred, un bonjour du Québec! I'll stick with English for the convenience of other users :P I use a Sanity system very similar to the one of CoC for my Deadlands Weird West and Deadlands Noir games (and a Morality system similar to World of Darkness for my Hell on Earth games). As a Game Designe...

Obese Hindrance + Brawny Edge

Is it possible to take both the Obese Hindrance and Brawny Edge? I think that nothing in the rules prohibits it, and I expect to have an answer in the line of "it's up to the Marshal", but what do you think about it? I need guidance. After two years of running Deadlands every week, it's fi...

I asked myself the same thing. The way I ruled it: 1. Since you basically need 2 Edges to be a Enlightned (Martial Artist + AB Chi Master) and it states that you have 2 starting powers, in my games the Chi Masters have 2 powers at d4. They can then spend skills points at character creation to increa...

[DL:R] Summon Lesser Spirit

The Summon Lesser Spirit power states that the summoned spirit must be rolled from the Spirit Table, unless the summoner knows the spirit's true name. One of my player is a shaman. A significant NPC died during the course of the campaign. He had the idea to use this power to call him, since he "...
