Re: Problem with "tank" PC

after you eliminate the other PCs from the fight. it is easier to focus fire on the tanks. because there are less opponents fighting back against you. same reason it is better to eliminate enemy extras before you target the wild card leader. so you can eliminate the majority of the real danger and ...

Re: Problem with "tank" PC

I don't think that pointing out that enemies can ignore the tanks is a valid criticism. First of all, the PCs can still make decent damage. But even if they were "turtles" the enemies would have to attack them after they have dealt with the other PCs. And those would find it unfair if the ...

Re: Problem with "tank" PC

The PCs are Seasoned rank, we have started from this rank so surviving the low levels wasn't a problem. They are all humans. They have used all the possible stats increases, but they still have D4 on Smart and Spirit. The spear was a mistake, but we will probably switch to a rapier refluffled in the...

Re: Problem with "tank" PC

I've got a hunch that these tanks are about as smart as a pile of bricks; Spirit is likely a dump-stat as well. Smarter opponents should definitely lead with Smarts tricks on them, and/or Tests of Will. A success on a Trick drops their parry by 2; a raise also Shakes them (making it much easier to ...

Problem with "tank" PC

I've always played SW in settings where firearms are common. So my experience with melee combat is pretty limited. Last time we made a classical fantasy campaign and decided to use SW as ruleset, instead of D&D. But we got a problem: two players made tanky PCs. They both have Vigor D12, Browny/O...

Re: Shotgun vs 3-round burst

It's going to depend on the setting. I play a character in a modern-day urban fantasy game, for example - he's a conspiracy theorist who runs a popular blog and investigates supernatural mysteries. He uses a shotgun and a glock, and also owns an old hunting rifle, but he doesn't have any automatic ...

Re: Shotgun vs 3-round burst

I try to answer to every argument. -Concealing: shotguns aren't lighter (except the sawed-off, but only slighty). There aren't rules for the length, but using real data a SPAS-12 or a Remington 870 aren't shorter than a M16, so I don't think you can hide shotguns but not rifles. -Laws: it's not ille...

Re: Shotgun vs 3-round burst

True, but you lose the +2 to hit if using slugs As I said... "When you need it". So, let's say you have an enemy at long range, of course it's better to load a slug, then shoot at -4 and make 2d10 damage, instead of shooting a buckshot at -2 doing 1d6 damage! :D The problem is that the M1...

Re: Shotgun vs 3-round burst

Considering the chance of exploding dices you can add 1.75 to the shotgun damage and 1.125 to the M16 damage. So it doesn't make difference. A possible HR might be to upgrade the shotgun dice to the D8. At short range it would deal 13.5 (+1.6 from exploding dice). Or maybe adding a fixed damage bonu...

Shotgun vs 3-round burst

I noticed that a shotgun deals 3D6 damage at short range (average 10.5). The M16 can use the 3RB to deal 2D8+2 (average 11). They both have +2 to hit roll, but the M16 is obviously better at great range and has automatic fire. So I see no reason to use a shotgun. Have I missed anything ? What HR cou...

As for rules, I'd probably give each counter-missile fired a 2 or 3 in 6 chance of stopping the enemy missile (though keep in mind the rather high cost of missiles in general make this a less than economical tactic without strong justification.) (Alternately, I might allow a "targeting lock&qu...

Sorry, could you explain "point defense with automatic weapons" and "using missiles for PD" in more detail? Maybe give some examples? PD works in this way: you roll dices equal to the rate of fire of the weapon, every hit has a 6 chance to destroy the missile. This is for automa...

Missile point defence

In SWD there are rules for point defence with automatic weapons.
There are rules for using missiles for PD ?
If there aren't what HR would you use ?

In my campaign PC are the productors, so I think that 75% of the market price could be a good production cost. For high technology items it could be higher, maybe the full price (it's a semi post-apocalyptic setting, so high technology is not common). I wonder what the production times could be. May...

[SFC] Production prices

The prices listed for weapons, gears and mods are market prices.
What could be the production prices ? 75% ? 50% ?
And what rules would you use for production times ?

[SFC] weapons price + small drones with big guns

I noticed that the Heavy MG costs $700 in personal weapons list, but it costs $5000 in vehicular weapon list. I suppose the latter is correct because a Minigun costs $10000, but I'm not sure. I haven't noticed anything that forbid small robots to bring any weapon. But I think it's no good that small...

Re: [SPC] petrifying gaze and buff

The Amplify power at Savagepedia sounds like what you're looking for. Yes, I think I can alter this to grant powers of choice of the caster instead of augmentation for the buffed character's powers. The drawback is that you can give only a definite power. Thanks :) If you wanted a permanent *turn t...

[SPC] petrifying gaze and buff

How can I reproduce a petrifyng gaze ? I tought to use poison (lethal) but it doesn't work against armored targets. Do you think that removing this limitation make a broken power ? What limitation can be used instead of that ? Another thing I want to do are buff spell. But a lot of powers are only p...

Because Size +9 gorillas don't exist. The only gorilla entry I could find in SW was from the Solomon Kane setting, and it's Size +2. Let's use another example for easy reference. SWD has a great white shark listed at Size +4. Using Shape Change to assume that form would only require 8 points in the...
