Re: The Flood (Massive Spoilers) problems with players going off on their own tangent.

Do the characters have any contacts, allies, friends or family members in their backstories you might draw upon?

Even if it's only to tell the characters who they can/should trust, it would be coming from a personality the player created and thus might be more likely to listen to.

Re: Jasper Stone backstory (spoilers for Stone & Hard Place)

My intention wasn't to make a wholly unsympathetic psychopath "cool" or "awesome." As unrealistic and over-the-top as it may be, I intended the backstory to underline the fact that Stone is not awesome. He's evil to the core. He kills for fun. He's overconfident and arrogant and ...

Re: Differences between Savage Tales and One Sheet Adventures

They're basically the same concept. Any standalone adventure that fits on one sheet could be a One Sheet. Many Savage Tales would fit that template, but many others wouldn't (depending on the author). The difference is that One Sheets are truly standalone, while the Savage Tales in our books are des...

Re: Anahuac Religion in Deadlands: Reloaded

According to Lost Angels ... Being an Anahuac priest is a special version of shamanism (see Ghost Dancers for more on shamans). The Anahuac perform rituals to earn Appeasement to be spent on favors. These favors are granted by God (as understood by the Anahuacs), often with the help of patron saints...

Re: Scrapper vs Cyborg

What's called a "cyborg" in Hell on Earth is what grew out of automaton technology.

Hell on Earth Reloaded Companion, page 30, has three paragraphs covering the setting reasons.

Re: A good ol' fasioned bar fight. Suggestions?

There's a brawl in SaaHP that is handled using a Dramatic Task. It worked well, those that failed ended up with Fatigue from Bumps and Bruises. I thought that it was a crap way to handle a bar room brawl, with three PC's with d4 Fighting rolling at -2 they would have just been onto a hiding to noth...

Re: [Reloaded] Common Knowledge

To play Devil's advocate ... if everyone is a doubting Thomas why would Fear Levels rise? People aren't afraid if they don't believe. Nor would hucksters or voodooists need to hide their magic, because no one believes in witchcraft. The bedrock of the setting isn't people rationalizing the supernatu...

"In range" should more accurately say "in the area of effect," i.e., inside the field.

Re: PC Harrowed Automaton in Deadlands

Since you have Good Intentions you could make use of the Mannikin, a prototype automaton that can pass for human. If the brain Hellstromme's people implant becomes sentient (a la "Daddy's Boy" One Sheet) and has heroic aspirations, no reason it couldn't become Harrowed. That'd be a fun, ev...

Re: [Reloaded] Common Knowledge

It bears mentioning that only a baker's dozen or so characters in the setting -- besides your heroes -- know the metaphysical details of the Reckoning and what's "really" happening.

Beyond that, what everybody else said. :)

The Goon RPG

The Goon? That'd be fun! KNIFE TO THE EYE! I was reading this article today and thought that Deadlands: Noir could be used to bodge together a Goon setting. http://uproxx.com/gammasquad/deadpool-the-goon/ (Let's not derail the thread any further on this track, though... if you want to discuss...

Re: Portals

The newly released Land Beyond the Busted Doorframe features a Hall of Doors to a lot of different places. You might look into that. Admittedly influenced by a fantastic Dungeon magazine adventure, "The Door to Everywhere," by Roger E. Moore. But I'm glad you mentioned it. Portals in Dead...

Re: Good Intentions errata (?) [SPOILERS]

The Stray wrote:What was revised in Good Intentions since the initial release? I couldn't spot any real differences on a quick thumb-through.

Not much. So far we've corrected the Divine Inspirations "Righteous Wrath" and "Wither Limb," and we gave Jeb Morgan his missing Grit on page 155.

Re: [Good Intentions] Blessed and Voodooists

Blessed characters have a greater influence in Good Intentions than voodooists. Blessed also get a bunch of new Divine Interventions, which are easier to understand with the AB there. Voodooists not being a huge focus of the book and space being limited, we didn't see much point in reprinting the sa...

Out of curiosity, what skill do you mean? He has Gambling (per the Outlaw stats) and there's no such thing as a "Disguise" skill.
