Anyone still use Savagepedia?

#1 Postby Phasma Felis » Wed Mar 22, 2017 6:30 pm

Does anyone still use Savagepedia? I just noticed that the Powers section hasn't been updated since 2009. :o I'll probably work on that tonight, but I wanted to see if anyone is gonna use it.

Rarely, now. I mostly use it for ideas for my own homebrew.
I used to use it directly as a resource.
"Got a problem? I've got the solution: Rocket Launcher."
"Not against a Servitor."
"... We're all gonna die."

There's a few specific uses I have for it. Powers by Rank is very helpful, for instance.

I used it a lot when I was first getting into Savage Worlds but I've found that as I've gotten more comfortable and familiar with the system, a lot of the house rules seem extraneous to me, while the list of Edges/Hindrances has become less useful now that I have more of the big-name source books.

That said, the site was a huge part of my initial obsession with the game (along with Savage Heroes).

DC and Marvel film characters are available as well (Featuring Deadshot and Iron Fist!)

I still occasionally use it for extensive list of monsters it has, and I know it regularly gets recommended to people on the Savage Worlds Facebook group

I've been using it to post some of my Savage Rifts ideas.

I think it makes a decent directory for fan-licensed stuff. I also notice referral traffic in Google Analytics from it, which means people are using it as a discovery tool.

I used it the most when I first started to play Savage Worlds. Most things have not been touched in several years, which is sad because many of them were unfinished. I think that is why I don't look at it very often: it looks like a bunch of abandoned projects.
Just about every kid today wants to be Batman, Spiderman, or Superman. Maybe if we were better parents they would not want to become orphans.

Same here, although it's undergone some improvements of late. I keep meaning to put some of my stuff on there.
My blog: Savage Stuff. I've also written some free tools and supplements.

In case anyone was wondering, Savagepedia gets about 330 sessions a day and about 1,000 pageviews a day. About 55.4% of those sessions are new sessions.
