Changing Email Addresses

Hey gang just an FYI here. If you change your email address in your profile, your account will be deactivated until reactivated manually.

Since there is no real way to know if it is just a change in email or a legitimate account deactivation, the only way we have to check is to contact you by email. So if you change to a spamkiller account* or accidentally misspell the email address, we can't contact you.

If your account deactivates after some kind of change and you don't hear from someone at Pinnacle, please shoot me an email at PEGClint<at>gmail.com and let me know the situation.

Thanks!

*We would prefer that members simply hide their email accounts. Bots should not have access to your listed email account if you choose to keep it from being publicly shown, but the forum administration can still contact members if needed.

New Member - Registration problem

I just registered to the forum and on my first attempt was told that my primary e-mail address was banned.

I'm a little surprised by this since I have only ever said nice, encouraging things about Savage Worlds - which I only discovered at the start of 2010.

No-one could be using this account without my knowing it since it is in daily use (for one thing it is the account I used to buy both PDFs of Space 1889:Red Sands from the Pinnacle website only two days ago.

What could be the problem?

Thanks,

Steve

I still cannot use my primary e-mail account her at peg forums and still would like to know either why or how I can get it unblocked.

The yahoo mail interface is too flaky to use. Gmail is clunky. Besides, I get mail from you guys all the time TO the account, why can't I use it for my purposes?

C'mon chaps, I asked about this four years ago. You won't find a single bad word regarding PEG, Savage Worlds or any of the support products attributable to that account so what gives?

Steve.

I thought I handled this by Private Message back then, but since it appears not, send me a PM with your other email address.

I'm pretty sure I know the reason and it has nothing to do with you, but instead with the specific service provider.

Edit: And is there a particular reason you don't simply have Gmail automatically forward incoming emails to the other address, so everything would come to the address you want to receive it? :-?

Sorry for the slow response. Snowed under at work and new responsibilities on top of that.

And yes, since you ask, there is a reason. It has to do with my convenience and the observation that if PEG can *send* e-mail to my preferred account when they would like me to check out their new products I don't think it's unreasonable for me to use it to access this forum without messing around configuring Gmail filters in an interface I already find clunky and unhelpful.

Interestingly (for me; I've been in IT for decades and find stuff like this fascinating), it seems as though all forums using this particular codebase hate my every-day e-mail service (a very large cable television company that serves thousands on Long Island with top notch broadband access). The Dresden Files RPG forum had the same reaction. I could hazard a guess at what is afoot, but I won't, here.

Personally I can't imagine what Cablevision could have done to elicit the reaction. I use the account to identify myself for Studio 2, RPGNow and DriveThruRPG, who have no problem they've admitted to with it.

Thanks again Clint.
