[NE] [SPC2] First Time GM Looking For Maps

#1 Postby Café Truck » Sat Feb 11, 2017 1:21 pm

I'm getting set to run a campaign for the first time, and my group and I are excited to play Necessary Evil: Breakout. I was looking on Pinnacle's site and wasn't able to find any urban maps for the setting. Anybody have a good resource for maps they've used?

The ones in the pdf are useful (but really small).
Any urban combat maps are pretty good, especially those for games like Warhammer 40,000 or BattleTech, which tend to have a good mix of hammered terrain and space to move in. (I was lucky, my FLGS has a large 40K contingent and I was able to use a lot of the modular 3D terrain they use.)
If you're a digital maps guy, drivethrurpg has a ton of options: http://www.drivethrurpg.com/browse.php?keywords=urban+terrain++&x=0&y=0&author=&artist=&pfrom=&pto=
Just make sure to really look at the products, since quality can vary a lot depending upon publisher.

Some of the HeroClix maps (and figures) are also good for NE:B.

Couple thoughts for you:

1) Google Maps. Go to Satellite view, remove the labels. I did a bunch of maps in War of the Dead this way.

2) Go to a Zone-based map rather than grids. My version of that is here (I got that from someone else, wish I had a link to the original). As a GM, I found it much easier to do a quick zone map than create a grid based one. They weren't fancy or pretty (the one in the example is more complex than I anything I created), but workable and easy for the GM to create. That's what I did for our Necessary Evil game.
