At Necronomicon 2015, in Tampa, Florida, on October 10th and 11th (Saturday and Sunday), I'll be running a couple of Savage Worlds scenarios using material from Deadlands: Hell on Earth, and drawing upon themes from the Fallout series of video games. (A special thanks goes to Yves Geen for his "Savage Fallout" conversion blog.)

In the retro-futuristic post-apocalyptic wasteland, a fully-automated Nuka-Cola bottling plant is still in operation 200 years after the bombs dropped. The Nukatron, a dedicated (and/or deranged) utility robot, is still faithfully carrying out his pre-war orders, traveling in a fission-powered refrigerated delivery truck in order to restock vending machines along his route. In the course of his poor logic circuits trying to make sense of the radically-changed landscape and the hostile nature of so many of its inhabitants, Nukatron's safety and human-life-prioritization protocols have been overridden. It's a very dangerous thing to be standing between Nukatron and his next stop.

That said, a band of brave (and/or desperate) survivors has managed to scrounge up some old Nuka-Cola Corporation security badges in order to hitch rides on the comfortably air-conditioned (if somewhat irradiated) truck. Sure, they need to stock up on Rad-Away every chance they can get, but where the robot can find still-functioning Nuka-Cola vending machines, there's sure to be good looting!

So, this basically boils down to a post-apocalyptic "dungeon crawl" of sorts, with plasma guns and power-axes instead of swords and sorcery, as our heroes do battle with cannibalistic fiends, even more cannibalistic ghouls, and various other hostile and carnivorous mutant nasties, all in the name of finding 200-year-old boxes of Sugar Bombs (chock full of sugar and preservatives!), bottle caps, Vault Boy bobbleheads, and other treasures.

Another scene shot: The Junkyard Dawg and Sir Gary the Super Mutant fending off rad-scorpions at the Poseidon Energy Service Station!

And here's the Lone (NCR) Ranger:

And then, it's Billy, a suave member of the New Vegas Freeside gang, "The Kings":

Now, don't go stepping on his blue suede shoes!
