East Texas University Setting Gaming Aides

#1 Postby reynomatt » Tue Apr 21, 2015 4:11 am

I have been a diehard fan of Savage Worlds for the last three or four years. I have never posted anything really on the forums here, but my gaming group is nearing the end of their sophomore year in the East Texas University setting, and I was inspired to share the graphic design elements I have worked on since I started GMing the Degrees of Horror campaign.

Inside my drive folder you’ll find:
- A photoshop psd file I used for student id cards. Walmart sells self-sealing laminating sheets that match dimensions.
- A double sided character sheet with “pinnaclebook” theming.
- A printable poster for the excellently crafted 12 to Midnight adventure “Bloodlines” specifically designed to gear the theming to make it a local/college event.
- A “ritual” style burst/cone template.

Man, I don’t know where to begin. Since I’m using the Degrees of Horror campaign book I won’t go into detail, we’ve stuck close to some of the cleverly written adventures and then I’ve added a few twists and turns here and there. We have an obsidian portal which can be viewed at https://secrets-of-east-texas-universit ... ortal.com/ I’m working on getting an adventure log up, but I am trying to avoid any spoilers or revealing any information that may have come from the published adventures. One of our players has a socially awkward character who keeps a quirky journal detailing their adventures including hilarious illustrations of key events that will most likely make it up onto the journal.

The images below are of the setup I had for the first session, Orientation day. I was inspired by “The Freshmen” episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer to have a mess of flyers to different student events greet the players as they took their seats.

Brian who is played by my good friend Kerin is a quirky biology student, she keeps the group updated in what they have accomplished at ETU with this “field guide.”

The last photo is from the finale episode of the first season. Since a majority of the published adventures include cursed objects, the students uncovered that a demon was behind the cursed items being dispensed throughout campus. It was a good theme to elongate the main storyline behind degrees of horror.

I tried logging onto your Obsidian Portal page and got this message...
"Sorry, you are not authorized to view that page. (403)
The GM of that campaign has restricted its visibility. It is not publicly viewable."

Anyone needing any adventure hooks or characters for their ETU game feel free to steal from our old Obsidain Portal (https://etu.obsidianportal.com). We ran all the way to graduation usually with only 1xp per adventure to get mroe action in during our 4 years so there's a lot to mine out.
