Physical power cards meant for print.

#1 Postby FireVisor » Tue Oct 06, 2015 6:48 pm

Hi there guys!

This is the first time I am posting something like this.

I am aware that this is pretty much copyrighted material. But since Pinnacle aren't offering a similar product I felt it was fair game to create this. If not, then I apologize.

These are the Powers from the game in printable card form and a version where you can fill in text for custom Powers before printing them.
Power Cards
Power Cards - Form Fillable

You are meant to print them double-sided. This way you get the base-power on one side of the card and on the other side you write your own customized power with trappings and a cool name.

The reason I wanted to make these, is that during play I like to improvise things.
And it becomes a lot easier to do, if you have the powers right in front of you for easy reference.

Icons are from http://game-icons.net/ Really neat stuff.

EDIT:

A lot of the rules are truncated, so they fit on a smaller card.

Added category icons in bottom right corner. Offensive, Utility and Defensive.

EDIT 2:

Added a form-fillable version and fixed a typo where Blast was listed as a Novice power instead of Seasoned.

Not bad. The only change I might make is space for a specific name and trappings so players can customize, but I'd probably just handle that with index cards and write it all myself.

You would do that on the "back-side" of the card. The original power is on the front, and your players custom power with trappings goes on the blank side.

Or did I misunderstand what you meant?

Maybe I'll finish all of them... when I get my motivation back.

Would be nice to give back to the community.

Feel free to give some feedback or general thoughts about them if you end up using them.

There!

I've now edited the top post link...

It now has a Work In Progress PDF of all the Powers in Savage Worlds.

I am happy you find it useful!

However, it's not quite done.

I need to truncate and simplify some of the text in order for some powers text to fit the cards.

Perhaps I'd enlarge the text for smaller powers, but I don't know if that is appropriate style-wise.

I've updated the cards some more, added in icons in the lower right corner to tell what kind of power it is.

There are three categories: Offensive, Utility and Defensive.

One of my intents making these cards, was that I toyed with the idea to let everyone spend a Benny to make an effect like this available.

For example, in one session one of my players wanted to strike a lamp on a bridge, and I wanted it to be more impactful than just being a Trick. You could allow him to attack it, and create an effect from a power on the fly.

This of course wouldn't sit well with everyone, but I want the players to be able to be cool by interacting with an area and creating effects but using fair rules.

FireVisor - I found a typo. You list Blast as a Novice Power when it's really Seasoned.

Again - great work here! Thanks. Our group has never played a Savage Worlds game with magic before so tonight we played a couple of sample combats with mages using your cards. They really helped speed things up. Not only did they keep us from having to flip back and forth in the rule book but we could quickly, at a glance, tell what powers our mages had.

Thank you! I'll get it fixed ASAP!

I am very happy you used them in your game. I'm even more pleased they helped you guys in some way!

And lastly, I'm a bit jealous. I didn't even get to try them myself first! ;)

this is an idea i've been mulling over myself for quite a while. and i have yet to come up with a format i'm happy with.

my ideal would be to represent powers, gear, and edges via cards that fit nicely into standard collectable card sheets. then each player has a binder with a few pages laying it all out. not sure if 3x3 or 2x2 pages would work best. or if the idea is worth the effort.

i may break these out for my next campaign. we just wrapped up a savage worlds conversion of the old shadowrun _harlequin_ campaign and are taking a few weeks off. i'll report back later if we end up using these.

once again, thanks for sharing.

ONe other suggestion for these power cards. Make them form fillable.

What exactly do you mean?

That you want to be able to fill them with digital text before printing them?

Yeah specifically the back of the cards so you can type in the trappings.

I, of course, want to be seen as having made something cool. So here you go!
Power Cards - Form Fillable

Oh, and I also fixed Blast. It's now a Seasoned Power as it should be.
