Savage Star Wars Gear Cards, Bennies, and Conversion Notes

#1 Postby Big Juju » Mon May 30, 2016 12:33 am

I've run 4 adventures so far using my Savage Star Wars conversion and we’ve had a great time. I wanted to make sure our games felt cinematic and that these notes had enough crunch to give it a Star Wars flavor while still remaining Fast, Furious, and Fun. I think I’ve got that with this short (7 pages - with pictures) conversion.

It’s fun theming the different parts of a game to match your setting, so I made some Star Wars bennies.

I posted notes on how I made them over on another thread here on the forums - http://www.pegforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=27302&p=441396#p441396

I love using gear cards for RPG games. Holding a card for a particular piece of equipment speeds up game play by having the stats in your hand but also makes the game that much more fun to have visual representations of what your character’s using. I made gear cards for our Star Wars games.

I made our first Star Wars adventure into a One Sheet (that’s 3 pages long).

A couple of things we did for our game that really nailed the feel...

We had Dark Side Bennies. They were a stack of bennies on the table that the characters could use whenever they wanted. Of course, with it came the risk of Turning to the Darkside. It was a Spirit roll at the end of the Night, -1 for each Dark Side Benny the character had. If you failed, you got a Dark Side Point. Six of those suckers, and you were Turned and became an NPC.

Second, we used the rules from Triple Ace Games' Daring Space Rules (can't think of the name)... it didnt let the NPC Mooks loop on damage, let the players recover their spent Benny if they completely absorbed the wound, and regain Power Points and Ammo.

I think we're property - Charles Fort

Cool idea, Yuri. I'll have to give it a try - but with a different group of characters! Both of my players are enjoying playing "morally ambiguous" bounty hunters so I don't think this'd work.

Thanks! That's quite a compliment coming from a guy who really does incredible work for his games!

Vinzent - It's an old Galoob Star Wars toy. You can find them on eBay. Their Action Fleet line is "good enough" scale for 25/28mm minis.

Pic of the set and more info here - http://www.starwarsactionfleet.com/swaf.cgi?s=item&t=EX&i=gian_speeder
