Help me understand weapon points calculations

Hey everyone,

I've been sitting here scratching my head as to how point costs for weapons is calculated. Can someone please explain to me the nuts and bolts of "building weapons?" points-cost wise?

Specifically I'm curious how many points AP is worth, as well as range, and damage dice too. If someone can walk me through a few different weapon construction types I'd really love them for it.

Also, I'm trying to understand how to calculate natural weapons (biting, claws, tails) into the game, think someone can help me out?

Hand to hand (and thus most natural) weapons Weapons Cost

3x((Dice size/2)-1)+3(Fixed bonus)+2xAP+2xReach+3xParry Bonus

+3 if they ignore shields, -5 if they malfunction(Like a chainsaw), -3 if you have to be mounted and charge to use them.

So a Laser Sword(Str+d6+8, AP12) Costs

54 pts

If you look at the Troop Builder and click on a cell in the cost column of the Hand Weapons or Ranged Weapons pages you can see what the calculation is.
