[Savage Rifts] Psi-sword power

#1 Postby Riftmaker_DD » Mon Jul 04, 2016 8:11 am

I can't seem to see psi-sword on the mind melter power list. Is it Cyber Knight only? I mean the melter looks like use using that power in the illustration, but I can't seem to find it besides the CK's.

It's an Edge. p.73

So does anyone know what power he's using in the pic? Since a mind melter wouldn't have access to Psi-Swords.

For mind melters it is called the psi-blade which is an edge as previously mentioned. Mind melters use their smite power to activate the psi-blade

Mind Melters hav access to Smite, so they can take the Psi-Blade Edge. However, there are other options

-Special Techno-Wizard ring that turns into a sword of pure energy when you feed it ISP/PPE?
-An unique trapping for Warrior's Gift that gave him Martial Artist

So let's say you have the greater Smite and use your Psi-Sword, does it do the additional +4 (+8 on a raise) from activating Smite?

Yes, it would.
"The psi simply activates her smite power, summoning the Psi-Blade instead of putting the power on another weapon or set of ammunition (the smite bonus adds directly to the Psi-Blade’s base damage). This Edge can be used with exalted smite, as well."
The highlighted section attempts to make that clear.

That is funny, because my groups Cyber-Knight has never chosen to either take Master Psionic or activate Smite for his Psi-Swords and he lays out unbelievable DPS already by boosting his spirit to d12+2 and using improved frenzy he rolls at d6+3d12+6 AP 8 twice per melee.

Cyber-Knights have a different ability. Similar, but different. They deal Str+(Spirit)*2 (or *3 with relevant Edge) damage, AP 6 (or 8 with Edge).

Cyber-Knight Psi-Swords are different from the Psi-Blade granted by the Psi-Blade Edge (Str+Spirit+smite, AP 6 Mega Damage).

My bad. I was confusing Psi-Blade with Psi-Sword.
