[SR] SFofNA - Generic Weapons?

[SR] SFofNA - Generic Weapons?

Many of the entries in the book have 'generic' weapons, like the civilian (p 57), commando (p 58) and solider (p 66). They seem to break down into basic melee/ranged weapons, and advanced melee/ranged weapons.

I assume these are older models (like, 60 PA or earlier) that while they still work, no one really wants to sell/trade them on the Market. Is that the intent (to reduce player looting)?

I would guess that the intent is to keep things generic and broadly applicable. The civilian's Basic Melee Weapon could be a knife, baseball bat, chair leg, or broken bottle; the soldier's Advanced Ranged Weapon could be a carbine, a laser, or an enchanted crossbow.

The stats are surprisingly poor compared to standard weapons, so--as always--you shouldn't hesitate to customize them to fit your game.
